Apply for Training
Thank you for your interest in the Gestalt Training Institute of Philadelphia. We’re taking a pause in admissions for the 2023-2024 academic year. For more information, you can read our complete statement on the Apply Now page.
Applicants with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A non-refundable fee and three letters of recommendation accompany the application for admission.

Admission to the program is based on recommendations and a review of candidates’ abilities to:
- Be self reflective;
- Engage in group experiences;
- Integrate and utilize written and didactic theoretical material; and
- Articulate why Gestalt Therapy Theory interests them personally and professionally.
In order to apply for the 3-Year training program, applicants must have completed at least one year of psychotherapy prior to applying.
Once application materials are submitted and reviewed and the application fee is paid, applicants are invited for an interview. Applicants are notified of the admission decision between May 1 – June 1.

Application for admission requires a fee: $75, three letters of recommendation and an interview with the Interview Committee.
Continuing Education
GTIP provides continuing education credits for Psychologists, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists.
This program is co-sponsored by Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research for a maximum of 120 credit hours. As a CSWE accredited program, the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College is a pre-approved provider of continuing education for Social Workers in Pennsylvania and many other states. GTIP is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology to offer continuing education for psychologists. GTIP maintains responsibility for the program.
