Debra Brosan (she/her), MA OD, ICF MCC

Client Focus:

  • Organizations
  • Executive and Leadership Coaching

Philosophy:

My philosophy as a coach and consultant is to simply create space for change, to influence and be aware of urges to control and direct.  By creating space for change, trust and experimentation occurs naturally. Our work together always happens within a context, in the environment, and in a system. When I think about systems, I focus on organizational needs and impacts.

Coaching is a learning process. In order to achieve business goals, learning is needed.  Real time reflection on the experiences of the leader and coach in the coaching process creates awareness that fosters learning. Curiosity is essential. Questioning, exploring, and experimenting are the ways we raise awareness. Through this process of increasing awareness, the opportunities for higher levels of engagement and productivity are possible. This can impact multiple levels within the system.

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

My passion in life is helping others. I strive to form strong relationships that set the foundation for secure attachment and trustworthy contact. I firmly believe that our connection is life-long and sacred.

I approach therapy by focusing on client strengths and utilize Gestalt Therapy techniques that treat the whole person and honor the importance of the field within the client’s daily life.

I help clients identify interruptions of contact, and support ways to work through and grow from their understandings of how creative adjustments, interruptions of contact and the field all come together to impact daily life encounters, as well as their own thought processes and emotions.

I invite clients to join my present-centered focus, recognizing the best opportunities for growth invite staying in touch with oneself in the present moment. As a Gestalt therapist, I also invite clients to tap into experiential experiments that are often thinking outside the box as ways of helping clients work through challenging issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, healing attachment conflicts, self-harm behaviors and suicidality. My passion and ultimate goal is to provide all clients with safe, humane, understanding and supportive environments, and to remind them of their integrity and worth.

Beth Filla (she/her), MSW, LISW, LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups
  • Couples

Philosophy:

I’m here to help you notice what you’re feeling, to name sensations and emotions and to be with you as we see what emerges: patterns, memories, long-held beliefs that have maybe never been yours. These things contain your past and will influence your future; but we’ll access them together in the present.

We’ll find ways for you to have more flexibility and choice in how your respond to them. We’ll get curious together. We might move around a little (but we don’t have to). We can use EMDR to get to the root of deeply distressing patterns. We’ll probably breathe, or at least notice if we stop breathing.

This is the brave work of moving fully into your life. It’s big stuff, and I’m so honored to do it with you.

Alison Gerig (she/her), LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • Antiracism Work with Therapists

Philosophy:

No matter what, I believe that we are all worthy of and have the capacity to live a meaningful and connected life. I want to help you find joy, liberation, and healing.

I work with folks to go into their stuck places and help them move through anxiety, shame, loss, grief, confusion. Our work will make space for you to inhabit and trust more parts of yourself. I connect our work to how we live in the world – how our identities (race, class, abilities, sexualities, gender) and family experiences have impacted and shaped us-in both beautiful and painful ways.

I use our relationship as a tool to practice intimacy, vulnerability, rupture, and connections. I also use body awareness and breath to explore what is stuck or out of our awareness but driving our reactions and thoughts. My approach strives to honor the teachings of Gestalt Therapy theory, somatic practice, and anti-oppression liberation work.

Douglas Graiver (he/him), MSW, LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13–18)
  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Families
  • Couples
  • Substance Abuse

Philosophy:

Over the years in my work with children, couples, families, as well as those struggling with substance use and other troublesome behaviors, I think about rocks. Specifically, the rocks that weigh us down emotionally, due to difficult childhood experiences, troubling relationships, and from events or challenges one faces in their lives. Many clients come into counseling with the belief that they are inherently flawed. Inevitably, during our work together we uncover some of the rocks that weigh them down emotionally. The resulting awareness can be quite effective in assisting a client in relieving these old self-defeating messages.

Gary Gray (he,him), MAT, Certified Gestalt Coach

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups
  • Families

Philosophy:

My job is to listen to you and learn what is remarkable and wonderful about you in the world, to urge you to see yourself as remarkable and wonderful and to help you discover what is preventing you from being fully engaged in your life.

I believe that wellbeing is enhanced by our ability to be more fully in the here and now. Healing happens when we become aware of how our stories are affecting us right now. We do have to delve into our painful stories but the stories were then and the guilt, anger, sadness and resentment are here and now.

I give my attention to what you say and how you say it. It is not my job to search for hidden, unconscious implications of what you say. I cannot know you by studying the various isolated parts of your life but by getting to know you as a complicated whole person and attending to the relationship of the parts to the whole. I believe this process of discovering, owning and embracing self is the path to healing and growth.

Laura Hawley (she/her), LCSW, Lic Acupuncturist

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • LGBTQI
  • Caregiving Professionals

Philosophy:

My approach in therapy is to recognize the other person as whole and to move with them toward recognizing their own wholeness. I have great confidence in people’s ability to move toward a state of balance and health. I draw on Antiracist, Presence, Gestalt, Somatic and Feminist practices. My focus is on the treatment of adults of all genders.

I cultivate compassion, creativity and responsibility with and in the clients I see. We work hard, but kindly, looking at patterns of thought, emotion, energy and action that are stuck in some way – making it difficult to have ease and stability or to make personal or professional transitions.

One of my interests is in care giving, burnout and personal history that may complicate the caregiving role. Past trauma, as well as difficulties inherent in caregiving professions can set people up for personal unhappiness, exhaustion and professional burnout. And yet, there is a lot of energy and potential bound up in this suffering. I am inspired by the unfolding I have witnessed in the people I work with, the unfolding of self confidence, self expression and the enhanced ability to love, work, play and thrive.

Philosophy:

I have been studying Gestalt Therapy for over 50 years, and I still love it. It is a wonderful strength-based, positive approach developed from many schools of thought. A major source is the dialogic work of Martin Buber, and I am grateful to have been introduced to that philosophy. Other interests of mine include: trauma, addictions, major human loss and clinical uses of humor. I am proud to be part of the GTIP community.

Kelly Kampf (she/her), LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • Families
  • Organizations

Philosophy:

I believe therapy is based on the relationship between therapist and client where the client is the expert on their own lives.

My goal is to provide a collaborative, non-judgmental space where clients can work to discover areas of their lives where they would like to change, grow, and gently uncover their true selves.

Often, issues arise in the therapeutic environment (between client and therapist) that are also occurring in your life, and we experiment together to find new ways of being and interacting in the world.  My training and background is in Gestalt, somatic (body-oriented), and relational orientations, which are based on the premise of person-in-environment, meaning that our identities are shaped by the environment we are in. Therefore, I also integrate into my work with clients, what is happening at societal, environmental, and cultural levels.

I am a white, queer, GNC-femme person (she/her/hers pronouns), middle class, able-bodied, Buddhist, child-free by choice, average sized, neuroatypical, U.S. citizen. I invite work with clients and supervisees to include conversations around how our own social locations impact our lives and relationship.

I have extensive training in grief and loss, trauma, body image issues, divorce, relationship issues, illness, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ* related issues, somatic therapy, EMDR, Trans-allyship, and anti-oppression.  I am a fat-positive, poly-friendly, kink-aware and alternative lifestyle friendly therapist.

Mark Magerman (he/his), PhD, LCSW, BCD, PCC

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups/Teams
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • Families
  • Organizations
  • Couples

Philosophy:

At each moment we are in a process of evolving from whom we have been to who we are becoming. I work using an experiential, dialogical and integrative approach to self-discovery and personal growth. Through compassionate understanding, confirmation of each persons’ uniqueness, attention to present-moment experience and heightened awareness, we can complete what is unfinished from the past, giving way to our emerging creative selves.

Understanding how processes can function to sustain disruptive patterns, as well as challenge and support the possibilities for creative problem-solving, can lead to deliberate actions that transform relationships between people, and between people and organizations.

Philosophy:

I love the way Gestalt Therapy provides an understanding and deep respect for the self and other people and teaches how to respect the other person in all their difference and likeness. After using and teaching other theories, including object relations, I’m so impressed

how well Gestalt Therapy, with its attention to a somatic and phenomenological approach, works with my clients. I learn from my clients, and I rarely have one leave before they feel real progress. I try to use Gestalt philosophy for my own satisfaction with my life and relationships.

Gina Rothermel (she/her), LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/ADults (18+)

Philosophy:

The therapeutic relationship is powerful and healing when you find a therapist with whom you connect. When you are ready, ask a lot of questions of potential therapists to ensure they have the specialization, approach and personality that meets your needs. If you are struggling, you don’t have to go through it alone.  Your therapist can help you identify and work towards achieving your specific goals.

My hope is that my clients leave our sessions feeling seen, heard, validated, supported and challenged. I aim to create a safe environment where painful experiences and areas of guilt and shame can be processed without judgment. I also enjoy helping clients gain personal insight and explore aspects of themselves they are curious about.

I’ve always been drawn to and count myself among people who experience not quite fitting in. Through therapy I strive to help people find and celebrate what makes them unique and to find strength in their difference.  My identity as a white, heterosexual, cisgender woman who is married and a stepparent plays a role in our work together. I’m also an animal loving vegan who grew up on a farm. Some of my favorite things to do are traveling, walking for miles around the city or on a trail, and connecting with people through our life stories. I share these things about myself so we can potentially explore how our social locations, experiences and interests impact our therapeutic relationship.

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

Relationship is at the center of our work together. It is in our therapeutic relationship that we can explore what is truly meaningful and how to connect to those nourishing parts of life.

In therapy with either individual clients or groups we work to  transform your sense of self and interpersonal relationships. We do this together through looking at what it is you really want out of life. We work through what has gotten in the way by having a conversation that includes different ways of getting a different perspective. These new vantage points help you see a way to leave the past in the past and create new pathways towards your dreams and goals.

Clients I work with have commented on breaking new ground in their career and relationships and also in leading healthier and happier lives.

Nature is very important to me in managing mental health and I see clients in an indoor and outdoor office and also go for walks in the Wissahickon for sessions.

I offer tools and techniques from counseling, somatics, polyvagal theory, and coaching. I am not a licensed therapist, but I can help you know if therapy could be helpful.

I have helped individual clients with things like:

  • Performance anxiety and mental blocks
  • Presence and embodiment while performing
  • Performing arts-based trauma
  • Job loss, grief, and career disappointment
  • Perfectionism or an overly critical inner voice
  • Navigating professional relationships and power dynamics in the performing arts

I have facilitated workshops for performing arts institutions and teaching studios about topics like:

  • Inclusivity and belonging
  • Self-advocacy and solidarity
  • Resilience
  • Navigating interpersonal power dynamics
  • Music student mental health

I can also offer consultation for fellow practitioners about the performing arts industry, Gestalt therapy theory, gender identity, and psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Naomi Wilansky (she/her), MSS, LCSW, BCD

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

We all have parts of self that are either well integrated or not well integrated. Not well integrated parts have competing agendas and are causing conflicts that result in behaviors that we don’t intend or want. The parts of self with competing agendas are more likely formed because of unmet needs through our development; whether because of abuse, neglect or well-meaning caregivers who for one reason or another aren’t able to meet our needs.

The work of therapy is about raising awareness to the unwanted, unintended behaviors (incongruence), and maybe to the source of them so that we are able to make well-informed decisions, accept all of our feelings as valid, adapt to situations that we can’t change and function as the inter-dependent, responsible, joyous, flexible adults that we are.
