Gina Carfagno (she/her), MSS, LSW

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

“All that I seek is already within me.”

My passion in life is helping others grow by working together to identify and support who you are and want to be/become. In today’s world, no one goes through unscathed. It’s easy to lose sight of ourselves and deny how our lived experiences bring us to this very moment. Part of our work together is leaning into this reality, learning how to be aware of our experiences and feelings within, and recognizing ways we lose ourselves and contact with the world around us.

I’m a Gestalt-trained, strength-based, and relational Clinical Social Worker. I’m dedicated in supporting you on your journey by identifying areas we get stuck and incorporating willingness to ask for help if/when needed. We’ll work together to identify ways you lose yourself, often through interruptions of contact, such as projection, introjection, and retroflection. I’m here to help you uncover ways you’ve survived using creative adjustments and helping you lean into how this may have silenced or denied you. Our work together will help you rebuild deeper awareness of the world around you, and thus how it impacts your daily life encounters, reactions, thought processes, and emotions.

Together, we got this!

Ellen Sandra Cohen (she/her), MT, Continuum Teacher

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

A life-long dancer, I have also been studying, developing, teaching and practicing body-oriented psychotherapy since the mid-‘70s. In my work I draw from a combination of body and energy techniques, including structural myofascial release, Muscular Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Continuum.

My experience as an improvisational dancer developed my respect for the sacredness of the moment, the wisdom that can emerge from the unconscious, and the importance of the relationship between client and practitioner. My passion is listening to creative intuition: my own, my clients’, and my students’, to allow the next correct action, movement, sound, idea or insight to emerge clearly.

Stephen C. DiJulio (he/his), PhD

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

I see my clients as first and foremost persons with strengths and only secondarily as persons with problems or issues. It is important to co-create a safe relationship as well as goals and a plan for moving forward. The plan must be tailored to the needs of the individual client.

At times, I will offer structured materials for building skills that the person may choose to accept or decline. I have a strong interest in inviting chair work to address unresolved trauma and losses.

Beth Filla (she/her), MSW, LCSW, LISW, E-RYT

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups

Philosophy:

I see clients in-person in my office in Collingswood, NJ, but am also licensed in PA and OH.  I work with clients from those states through the magic of telehealth.

I’m here to help you notice what you’re feeling, to name sensations and emotions and to be with you as we see what emerges: patterns, memories, long-held beliefs that have maybe never been yours. These things contain your past and will influence your future; but we’ll access them together in the present.

We’ll find ways for you to have more flexibility and choice in how your respond to them. We’ll get curious together. We might move around a little (but we don’t have to). We can use EMDR to get to the root of deeply distressing patterns. We’ll probably breathe, or at least notice if we stop breathing.

This is the brave work of moving fully into your life. It’s big stuff, and I’m so honored to do it with you.

Alison Gerig (she/her), LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • Antiracism Work with Therapists

Philosophy:

No matter what, I believe that we are all worthy of and have the capacity to live a meaningful and connected life. I want to help you find joy, liberation, and healing.

I work with folks to go into their stuck places and help them move through anxiety, shame, loss, grief, confusion. Our work will make space for you to inhabit and trust more parts of yourself. I connect our work to how we live in the world – how our identities (race, class, abilities, sexualities, gender) and family experiences have impacted and shaped us-in both beautiful and painful ways.

I use our relationship as a tool to practice intimacy, vulnerability, rupture, and connections. I also use body awareness and breath to explore what is stuck or out of our awareness but driving our reactions and thoughts. My approach strives to honor the teachings of Gestalt Therapy theory, somatic practice, and anti-oppression liberation work.

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Supervision Group(s)
  • Families
  • Couples
  • Substance Abuse Treatment

Philosophy:

Over the years in my work with children, couples, families, as well as those struggling with substance use, I think about rocks. Specifically, rocks that weigh us down emotionally from difficulties in childhood, troubling relationships, and challenges one faces in life. Many clients come into counseling with the belief that they are inherently flawed. Inevitably, during our work together we uncover some of the rocks that weigh them down emotionally. The resulting awareness can be quite effective in relieving or reducing self-defeating messages.

Parents often take their struggling child in for counseling. As a family therapist, I value the support that comes from the family system and work to empower the family to address the stressors they face together. I also specialize in work with couples and those in the LGBTQI community.

An important lesson I have learned throughout my career is how, as social beings, we tend to do better emotionally when we have a witness to our pain. In-person psychotherapy provides such a witness, as it can allow a client to feel seen in their pain and their life’s struggles.

Gary Gray (he/him), MAT, Certified Gestalt Coach

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups
  • Families

Philosophy:

My job is to listen to you and learn what is remarkable and wonderful about you in the world, to urge you to see yourself as remarkable and wonderful, and to help you discover what is preventing you from being fully engaged in your life.

I believe that wellbeing is enhanced by our ability to be more fully in the here and now. Healing happens when we become aware of how our stories are affecting us right now.  We do have to delve into our painful stories, but the stories were then and the guilt, anger, sadness and resentment are here and now.

I give my attention to what you say and how you say it. It is not my job to search for hidden, unconscious implications of what you say. I cannot know you by studying the various isolated parts of your life but by getting to know you as a complicated whole person and attending to the relationship of the parts to the whole. I believe this process of discovering, owning and embracing self is the path to healing and growth.

Kristen Hammond (she/her), MS, LPC

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy

I specialize in treating those struggling with childhood trauma and neglect, relational issues, and depression. Therapy with me is collaborative, warm, and full of respect for your humanity. Through an engaged process of reflection, connection, and behavioral change, I can help you work through what has you stuck. We will talk, we will feel, and we will likely laugh along the way.

I combine Gestalt Therapy with psychodynamic therapy. As I engage in the work with a client, I have one foot planted in the present and one foot planted in the past. By doing so, it allows myself and the client to link current patterns, feelings, and behaviors with events from the past. Through this linking and processing, we can complete the cycle of healing that was interrupted, so you can begin to move forward to a more fulfilling life, whatever that means for you. I am honored to do this work.

Please reach out if you would like a free consultation.

Laura Hawley (she/her), LCSW, Lic Acupuncturist

Client Focus:

  • Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

My approach in therapy is to recognize the other person as whole and to move with them toward recognizing their own wholeness. I have great confidence in people’s ability to move toward a state of balance and health. I draw on Antiracist, Presence, Gestalt, Somatic and Feminist practices. My focus is on the treatment of adults of all genders.

I cultivate compassion, creativity and responsibility with and in the clients I see. We work hard, but kindly, looking at patterns of thought, emotion, energy and action that are stuck in some way – making it difficult to have ease and stability or to make personal or professional transitions.

One of my interests is in care giving, burnout and personal history that may complicate the caregiving role. Past trauma, as well as difficulties inherent in caregiving professions can set people up for personal unhappiness, exhaustion and professional burnout. And yet, there is a lot of energy and potential bound up in this suffering. I am inspired by the unfolding I have witnessed in the people I work with, the unfolding of self confidence, self expression and the enhanced ability to love, work, play and thrive.

Philosophy:

I have been studying Gestalt Therapy for over 50 years, and I still love it. It is a wonderful strength-based, positive approach developed from many schools of thought. A major source is the dialogic work of Martin Buber, and I am grateful to have been introduced to that philosophy. Other interests of mine include: trauma, addictions, major human loss and clinical uses of humor. I am proud to be part of the GTIP community.

Eric Hoffman (he/him), JD, PhD

Client Focus:

  • Individual/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

As a philosopher, I was part of the group that helped create philosophical counseling, using philosophical as well as psychological resources to support counseling, which we viewed primarily as educational rather than medical.  As Assisting Conductor of the Essential Experience Workshop from 1989-2006, and Conductor, since 2006, I have designed and led intensive group experiential processes oriented toward personal growth. Gestalt training has served to enhance work with individuals, couples and groups. Deep listening, presence, an experimental attitude and a sense of humor are some of the skills I bring to the counseling relationship.

I love the way Gestalt Therapy provides an understanding and deep respect for the self and other people and teaches how to respect the other person in all their difference and likeness. After using and teaching other theories, including object relations, I’m so impressed

how well Gestalt Therapy, with its attention to a somatic and phenomenological approach, works with my clients. I learn from my clients, and I rarely have one leave before they feel real progress. I try to use Gestalt philosophy for my own satisfaction with my life and relationships.

Gina Rothermel (she/her), LCSW

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/ADults (18+)

Philosophy:

The therapeutic relationship is powerful and healing when you find a therapist with whom you connect. When you are ready, ask a lot of questions of potential therapists to ensure they have the specialization, approach and personality that meets your needs. If you are struggling, you don’t have to go through it alone.  Your therapist can help you identify and work towards achieving your specific goals.

My hope is that my clients leave our sessions feeling seen, heard, validated, supported and challenged. I aim to create a safe environment where painful experiences and areas of guilt and shame can be processed without judgment. I also enjoy helping clients gain personal insight and explore aspects of themselves they are curious about.

I’ve always been drawn to and count myself among people who experience not quite fitting in. Through therapy I strive to help people find and celebrate what makes them unique and to find strength in their difference.  My identity as a white, heterosexual, cisgender woman who is married and a stepparent plays a role in our work together. I’m also an animal loving vegan who grew up on a farm. Some of my favorite things to do are traveling, walking for miles around the city or on a trail, and connecting with people through our life stories. I share these things about myself so we can potentially explore how our social locations, experiences and interests impact our therapeutic relationship.

Melody Schaper (she/her), MFA, CMA

Client Focus:

Individuals/Adults (18+)

Philosophy:

I am a Somatic Movement Therapist and Executive Coach in private practice. Currently, all the work I do is virtual.

For over 40 years, I have been exploring how we express ourselves through our whole bodies and what holds our full and free expression back. My passion is accompanying anyone with tenderness and deep respect to the threshold of change and holding them with love as they seek to move to a more generous space within themselves.

Feeling comfortable in your own skin is the core of the work. And, almost everything within the walls of the skin provides the tools to grow when we learn how to listen and respond.

I received certificates in Gestalt Therapy from The Pennsylvania Gestalt Center and the Gestalt Training Institute of Philadelphia and am Certified in The Alexander Technique and Laban Movement Analysis. I have a BFA and MFA in modern dance.

Nathan Schlingmann (he/him), MA, MS, LPC, CGT

Client Focus:

  • Teenagers (13-18)
  • Individuals/Adults (18+)
  • Groups

Philosophy:

I enjoy helping clients who want to explore themselves and work towards being more accepting and confident in who they truly are. If you want to gain a broader perspective in how you are approaching your relationships, both personal and professional, I’d love to help you.

Growth and change are challenging, and can also be fun and exciting. In our work we’ll practice being more aware of what is really there for you in the area(s) you’re working on. It might be that developing a new skillset in your relationship will help it grow, or that you need help ending a relationship and starting a new one.
