About Me
In my practice I work with adults and adolescents with a variety of issues but specialize in issues related to sexual trauma (childhood or adult), childhood emotional/physical abuse, domestic violence, lack of parental attunement and growing up in a home where alcohol and drugs were abused. I also work with couples who are experiencing challenges in communication, connection and how past trauma effects this. I provide clinical supervision to therapists. I focus on creating a peaceful, safe space to work on understanding yourself and developing skills to deal with the issues that are holding you back from being who you want to be. I am sensitive to cultural, racial, religious, gender and sexual identify issues and how family and societal messages often play a strong role in this growth and development. I am a certified Gestalt Therapist therefore assist in being more present and aware of body-emotions. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and inner child work. My background also includes being a musician and artist, and I incorporate these skills and experiences when it is helpful to work through issues from a different perspective. www.debcallahantherapy.com
