About Me

El Schoepf (they/them) believes that healing is both personal and political. They aspire to bring both depth and levity to individual healing, as well as collective wounds of colonialism, imperialism, cisheteropatriarchy, white supremacy, and other systems of power and oppression.

Before becoming a licensed therapist, El was a musician and labor organizer. They helped build Lisa Operators United with CODE-CWA, a grassroots union of fully remote, part-time workers and later worked for the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), representing singers, dancers, and staging staff in the Mid-Atlantic region and advocating for performers’ workplace rights.

Today, El believes healing requires both collective and individual approaches. They specialize in working with performers, transgender and gender-expansive people, activists and organizers, and people integrating psychedelic and other transformative experiences. El studies and practices Gestalt therapy, politicized somatics, polyvagal theory, and Pesso-Boyden System Psychomotor (a group approach to healing attachment wounds). El lives in Baltimore, Maryland with their partner and two cats.
